3rd Grade Teacher
Old Orchard School has a rare opening for a Third-Grade Teacher who is skilled, passionate about elementary education and students, and eager to join a warm and collegial JK-8 school community. Our new Third-Grade Teacher should be a forward-looking educator who is able to expertly plan and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction across all core academic subjects while collaborating effectively with specialty teachers who also work with the class. They should also have expert written and verbal communication skills allowing them to work well with colleagues and communicate effectively with families. The ability to provide an inviting and positive classroom environment is essential, including providing students with effective and age-appropriate Social Emotional Learning (SEL) instruction and guidance.
This position has not been open for 39 years. We look forward to welcoming our new colleague in 2023-2024, our 50th Anniversary Year!
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in elementary education. A multi-subject credential is preferred, but not required.

At least 3 years’ experience teaching Third Grade, or at the mid- or upper-elementary level.

Ability to use key ed tech systems to enhance instruction, communication, and maintain records of assignments and assessments.

A professional, flexible, and good-humored mindset, and eagerness to collaborate with colleagues and participate in the wider school community.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Classroom Environment:
Maintain an inclusive, safe, and structured learning environment within a dynamic, student-centered classroom that identifies and meets the needs of both the class and individual learners within the classroom. This includes a deep understanding of best practices in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and the ability to use SEL tools formally and informally to support students as they grow and develop.
Curriculum / Instruction:
Provide instruction in all core academic subjects, and oversee the day-to-day life and well-being of the class and individual students. Design, plan, and deliver an inclusive, developmentally appropriate curriculum, supported by lessons and activities that promote both the academic and the social and emotional growth of students. Give assessments that accurately evaluate student progress, and modify or differentiate instruction as needed. Plan, organize, and supervise field trips and other activities that support and enrich student learning beyond the classroom. Work closely with other elementary colleagues to ensure integration across subject areas and grades, and to address student concerns.
Communication:
Clearly and effectively communicate with colleagues, students, and parents both in person and in writing. This includes proactively addressing concerns regarding student learning or social-emotional development via progress reports, formal or informal parent conferences, and timely assessment of student work.
Professionalism:
Demonstrate professionalism through punctuality, collaboration, organization, participation in meetings and staff development opportunities, and by maintaining a respectful attitude in professional relationships. Keep current in contemporary and developmentally appropriate pedagogical thinking, strategies, and techniques. Consistently and clearly communicate with colleagues, administrators, and parents regarding student progress and any student issues.

4th & 5th Grade Language Arts & 4th Grade History
Old Orchard School in Campbell, CA is excited to announce a rare opening for an experienced, collegial, and forward-thinking Upper Elementary Language Arts teacher to join our warm and inclusive JK-8 school community. In this role, candidates will teach 4th and 5th Grade Language Arts and 4th Grade California History.
We are seeking an educator who has a a deep appreciation for a wide variety of literature and is passionate about teaching reading and writing and leading a California History program that helps students better understand their home state and serves as an introduction to the study of history.
In close partnership with our 4th and 5th Grade math and science teacher, this position also includes overseeing the day-to-day well-being of students. This ranges from establishing an effective rapport with parents as partners in their student's success, to supporting students’ academic progress and helping them navigate these important pre-teen years with effective SEL instruction, guidance, and leadership.
Key Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject is required; an advanced degree is preferred. A relevant multi-subject or single subject California teaching credential is preferred, but not required.

At least 3 years of experience teaching Language Arts to Upper Elementary or early Middle School students

The ability to deliver an engaging and inclusive California history program.
