Extended Day Programs
Please note: Extended Day Programs have been paused for the 2020-21 School Year. We will revisit options for the 2021-22 school year and share details as they become available.
We like to think of our Extended Day program as the New Neighborhood: a safe, comfortable space to spend time with classmates, complete homework, build new friendships, explore new areas of interest, build specialized skills, and have fun at the end of a busy school day. We are committed to providing a variety of options in a safe and fun environment. Read on for more detailed information about our before and after-school programs.
Before school care is available for Lower School students (JrK - GR5). Students may be dropped off as early as 7:30 am for a flat fee of $5.
After-School Care is available on a drop in basis from 3:15 - 6:00 pm daily, with the exception of early dismissal days. After-School Care is supervised by regular Old Orchard staff members, not outside vendors, and there are at least two staff members are on duty at all times.
From 3:15 - 4:00 pm all students begin with a period of free play and relaxation
At 4:00 pm students have a quiet study hall period during which they may complete homework, work quietly on a project, or read. After-School staff are available for homework support and guidance whether it be completing a First Grade math sheet or solving an Algebra problem.
After completing homework, students may choose to bring out art supplies or building materials, enjoy the playground, a game of basketball or four square, play board games, or simply visit with friends.
Healthy snacks (e.g. fresh fruit, crackers, apple sauce, etc.) are served each day at no extra charge.
Fun Fridays! To ease into the weekend, students may choose to watch a G rated movie complete with popcorn.
After-School Enrichment Classes
A variety of After-School Enrichment classes are offered each day of the week. Class offerings vary throughout the year and we are always open to new suggestions. Previous classes have included art, chess, robotics, drama, speech and debate and sports clinics. After-School classes are available to all Old Orchard students. Those in After-School Care may check out to attend Enrichment Classes and check back in to After-School following the class. Cost and availability vary by class. Some are offered by Old Orchard faculty members, others by parent volunteers or outside specialists. See below for a look at the types of classes that have been on offer in recent sessions.
