Learning Selection for Winter Term (Feb 1 - April 9, 2021)

Before making your On-Campus or Distance Learning selection, please review the On-Campus Learning Hub on the website for additional information about on-campus protocols and procedures.

If you are opting for on-campus learning, especially, it is important that you understand some of the additional considerations and requirements imposed by the pandemic in general and the current surge in particular. The school, staff and faculty are committed to providing all students with a rich and engaging experience. Keeping everyone as safe as possible on campus does require an extra level of commitment, and we want to ensure everyone fully understands what is required.

Winter Term starts Online for All, January 5-29:

To ensure everyone's health and safety, we will start the New Year with all students in the Distance Learning Program for the first 14 days of the term. There will be no on-campus learning at this time. Students planning to return for on-campus learning on Feb 1 must be at home for at least two weeks prior to returning, following all county and state health and safety guidelines.

Travel Requirements for On-Campus Learners:

During Winter Term we will continue to observe current state and county travel recommendations and guidelines. If your student travels more than 150 miles outside of Santa Clara County, they will be asked to self-quarantine at home for 10 days before returning to campus. If you expect your student to travel during Winter Term, we strongly encourage you to opt for Distance Learning as this will be the least disruptive for your student, as well as for classmates.

On-Campus Families Agree to follow and support all school policies and protocols, including but not limited to:
  • Screening their student's health daily before coming to school.
  • Sharing with the school any concern that a member of their household may have been exposed to COVID-19.
  • Ensuring students wear a clean and properly fitted mask each day.
  • Practicing social distancing.
  • Following state guidelines that allow students to participate in no more than one activity outside of school.
  • Taking and following the Old Orchard Health & Safety Pledge*
  • Completing the school COVID-19 Waiver*

*Available within the Enrollment Portal under optional forms in your student's Enrollment Checklist.

On-Campus Families must also recognize and accept that:

  • For everyone's health and safety, the school reserves the right to adjust the on-campus program to respond to the pandemic up to and including moving all students to Distance Learning at short notice. With this in mind, all families should have alternative childcare plans in mind as needed.
  • Given the current high rates of COVID-19 and depending on the number of students that select to be on campus, we may have to shift to a hybrid schedule where not everyone will be on campus at the same time.
As a reminder, all families will have the opportunity to reevaluate your choice and return to campus for the final term (April 12 - June 4).
