Congratulations to Faye N. (GR8) and Olivia W. (GR7), whose science projects placed second in their divisions, and garnered multiple special awards, at the recent Synopsys Science & Technology Championship. Faye's project, in physics and engineering, was titled "Effect of an Optically Active Substance on Polarized Light." Olivia's project, in biology and engineering, was "Cleaning Water on a Dime: Which method of purifying water is cheap, quick, easy to use and reduces the most contaminants?"
Congratulations as well to Masha Korolik (OOS '17, Mitty '21), who won many science fair prizes while at Old Orchard. Now a freshman at Archbishop Mitty, Masha's project "Heat Transfer for Energy-Efficient Window Design: What properties of gas affect its ability to conduct heat?" won an honorable mention in physics and engineering, as well as specialty awards.
